About this work.....
Twenty six years ago as a young teenage girl, I was in search for purpose and meaning to my life. I had been given a promise from the Bible, which I believed without question: "And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart." Jeremiah 29:13

After an earnest search, I found Him to be true to His Word. He made Himself known to me in the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ when I learned from the Bible that I was the guilty sinner for whom Christ died in order to save. Turning away from my old life I had been living, trusting solely in Him, a relationship began between He and I, which will last for all eternity.

My heart was so overwhelmed with such a tremendous fact that as soon as I could be on my own, I did something that I never done before -- I sang with all my heart. The words of the beautiful hymn "Amazing Grace" were all that I knew at the time. Way back then, I seriously wondered if God would perhaps require me to use this new found gift for Him one day. This was to be the burden of my heart ever since...

You may be wondering about the title chosen for this collection of songs and Hymns, and so I will explain...

What is a pearl? It is a beautiful white gem created in the heart of a living creature, the oyster. Some adorn themselves with these beautiful things with often no thought as to where they came from.

But how is a pearl created? It begins with a foreign body; perhaps a grain of sand embedded in the flesh of the oyster, causing it great pain and suffering. Secreting a solution we call "mother of pearl", it covers the grain to reduce its discomfort. As time goes by, more and more of its own life is poured out and the newly formed pearl grows larger until the creature must give up its gem. We often take for granted what goes into crafting a thing of such beauty. But, in short, that is often what it takes to produce anything worthwhile!

Most of the Hymns and songs in this collection are the product of somebody's suffering. Although the writers of the Hymns have long since deceased, the beautiful words they penned are as fresh and relevant today as they were in the times in which they were written. During the past twenty six years, I have acquired a few "pearls" of my own! Therefore, these hymns and songs are presented to you with the experience that has been learned over those years.

Beginning at the foot of the cross, where one has to decide what to do with the work of Christ did on our behalf. The songs take us on through life's ups and downs along our heaven bound journey.

It is my earnest prayer that as you listen to the words of these pieces, you will receive help, comfort, encouragement, and blessing that they have been created to give. That in doing so, you will grow in love and appreciation for the dear Lord Jesus, the Saviour of sinners.

With Love,

Amanda

Thank You

Where do I begin?

Firstly, I must be thankful to the One who gave richly all that was needed to make this CD possible. He is the source of the song and the melody. The knowledge, the ability, the resources, and the time all originate from Him. All it took on my part was a willing heart. It is the Lord who began this work and it is He who has seen it through its completion. I trust for His glory and for the good of everyone that listens.

However, He also provided along the way some very special people to me who have played a very important part in this work.

Thank you so much to my longsuffering husband, son, and daughter who put up with a wife and mother totally absorbed on the computer for months on end. Paul, Matthew, and Sarah; without your support and understanding, this CD would not have been possible.

Thank you to my family members and friends for your encouragement in this work and sharing my vision. Thanks to those who quietly supported it with prayer.

Last, but by no means last, a special thank you to those with whom I have worked at "Sounds Workshop" for all your work. It has taken your technical skill, patience and encouragement to make this CD a reality at last. Thanks for all your kindness, it has meant so much to me.

Thank you one and all!

Amanda
