About Harold DeCou, Organist...
Harold DeCou is one of America's foremost sacred keyboard artists. He is also a composer and arranger of sacred music.

Mr. DeCou was six years old when he began his study of music. In his teens, he was appointed organist for one of the largest churches in Philadelphia. Following graduation from high school, Harold was awarded a music scholarship, and attended Temple University in Philadelphia, where he majored in piano and organ.

Subsequently, he served as organist for Calvary Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan, for fourteen years. Harold's service to church music has not been limited to the local church. Extensive participation in evangelistic crusades and conferences has led him to pursue his ministry throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe.

In addition to performing as an accompanist or solo artist on the piano and organ, Harold has also worked with choirs, orchestras and numerous vocal and instrumental groups.

As a talented composer and arranger, Harold has participated in the production of music for radio and television. His writing has also enhanced he recordings of many vocal soloists and choral groups.

Harold's published works include volumes of music for the church organist and church pianist as well as numerous choral works. He has recorded several albums of piano and organ music.

Harold and his wife reside in Peoria, Illinois, where he currently serves on the staff of Grace Presbyterian Church.

About the Allen Organs
The Allen Organ company has set the standard for organ building, having become the largest manufacturer of church organs in the world! They have created an instrument with the most realistic pipe organ sounds available, without the use of pipes.

Allen made its first commercially available electronic organ in 1939. In 1971, the company introduced the Digital Computer Organ. Since that time, many refinements have been made. The sound of wind-blown pipes are recorded and stored in computer chips. Though the use of digital circuitry, heavy-duty amplifiers, and advanced design speaker enclosures, the traditional sounds of a pipe organ became a reality. Although this organ's technical design is different from its predecessor, it is played in a completely conventional manner. Consequently, Allen Organ installations can be found in churches, educational institutions and concert halls around the world.

The selections on this recording are from two different Allen Organ installations, each with its own individual characteristics.
